"Well, we can't be good at everything..." Thérèse murmured, shivering slightly at the cool night breeze. She pushed back the same unruly strand of hair that had fallen out of place earlier. "It's a bit cold up here and-" She looked down, "-Mon Dieu, you're not even wearing shoes! It's after midnight and you're up on top of the Opera house barefoot!" She tsked loudly. "What would your mother say if she saw you up here, hm?"

"No, not everything," she said looking at her hands. As the breeze passed by Remy had a shiver of chill. She looked down to her feet and wiggled her toes not long before surling them up under her feet."My mother? She wouldn't even know i was up here for all she cares." A bit of hatrid struck through her voice.

"Oh..." Thérèse shifted uncomfortably. She watched the streets of Paris beneath them, but her eyes kept glancing back at Remy. "Did you fight?" She asked, somewhat naively.

"No not really, i just keep my distance and kept my mouth shut. Anyways i never saw her hardly so why should it be a problem?"she said picking up speed. "I'm so.... Sorry,"softly she said.

"I'm sorry," Thérèse echoed back at her, truly sorry she had brought this flood of emotions to the surface. "I didn't realize- I'm very bad with family issues. I never understand..." Or know what to say to make it better, she thought.
"I wish I knew what to say... I never knew my mother, so I'm not a person to give advice." Thérèse glanced at her cautiously again. "But perhaps it is worse to half know your mother than not at all..." She said quietly.
With a stroke of insight, sparked by the sight of the letter in Remy's hand, she asked quietly, "Does the letter have anything to do with this?"

"It's ok, it's really my own fault. I always start talking about something like this first." Remy was tring to be thoughtfull and not make Thérèse think it was her fault.
"Well, to look at it, when i was younger i never wanted to be apart from her. That's when she wasn't working." She stopped and thought for a few moments. "Now that we are talking about it i see the problem."
Remy looked down to the letter and smushed it up in her hand making it form into a round ball. "But then again they could make a better efort at coming to see me. So yes, this letter is about the encident."

"Ah... So they're not coming to see you?" Thérèse divined. "I'm not going to make excuses for them, I'm sure you've heard plenty of those," she said brusquely. "I know there isn't much I can do for it, but if it makes any difference I'll do my best to see you perform." She shrugged and crossed her arms.

Thérèse stiffened, unprepared for the hug. She was unaccustomed to unrestrained displays of affection. Particularly since coming to Paris she had retreated into a little shell, protecting herself from the huge city. Though she did not jerk away, she awkwardly patted Remy's shoulder with a free hand.
"I... Um, thank you," Thérèse mumbled.

Remy smiled but it went away. She thought it might have made Thérèse fell a bit awkward. Silence lept in after Thérèse spoke. Remy started to speak but soon failed, her mouth opened but no words came out.
Tring again, Remy succeeded,"I think i should be getting in before Madame Giry finds me out here." Remy started towards the door then turned around, "Have a nice night." Remy turned the handle, the door skweeked open then shut after she went through.

"Good night," Thérèse called after her. She waited alone on the roof top for a few more minutes, at least until she was sure Remy had cleared the stairs. She was certainly ready for bed now and the evening wind was now unpleasantly cool instead of a relief from the steaming tubs of water. Tip-toeing all the way, she made her way back to the servants' quarters.
