Alyna entered the lead ballerina's room again. She had checked the hallway thoroughly, and now began to look around the room for any ownerless shadows or dark corners. She didn't want this practice to be anything like last time's. As she waited for Madame Giry and Rose to come, she wondered if this was some sort of room for the ballerina Prima Donna. If it was, then singers obviously were better taken care of.

Madame Giry walked in, lead by Rose. Rose walked up and handed something to Alyna. She was embarrassed and a bit uneasy, but she handed the note to Alyna. "I worked something out," she said. The letter contained the necklace, and a little message that said: "Through deliberation, I have decided to return your necklace. Please do not wear the necklace while you practice to remember your feelings. Sincerly, O.G. "He only insists that you do not wear the necklace, just as you won't when we really perform," Rose said. "I hope that works."

Not mentioning that she probably would have worn the necklace under her clothes in the performance, Alyna read the note. It didn't make much sense to her, but she decided to let it be. At least she was still in possesion of the necklace. "I suppose we should begin." Alyna got into the starting position.

"Rose, the solo please," Madame Giry instructed, to see how Alyna would do. Rose began to play.

With perfect grace, Alyna began to dance. She kept her mind on an old man she used to know in her home town, trying to remember how she felt when he passed away. During a leg-up, she realized it wasn't working and tried to think of how she'd feel if she were his granddaughter. This did the trick. Her body suddenly began to move as if it had the weight of the world on it ((erm, the expression, not literal)) and her motions more depressing ((it sounds terrible)). As long as the Phantom didn't know what she was sad about, it probably didn't matter what she thought of while she danced. After the song had finished, she picked up the envelope and stowed it in her pocket so that she wouldn't forget it.

"Good, good. Let's run through the...third song," Madame Giry said as Rose flipped pages. "Now, in this song, Alavda is feeling hopeless, discouraged. But Gareth is trying to keep her hopes up. So try to feel like no one thinks your good enough and your discouraged, but someone keeps trying to keep you in high spirits, okay?" The music began.

"Wait," Alyna said. "How am I supposed to do both at once? Either I'm discouraged or I'm being comforted. I can't be both."

Madame Giry walked over to Rose, whispered a few things and went back to her place. "Well, I suppose you aren't such a good ballerina then. No determination. How did you ever get chosen? I need a real ballerina in this part!" Madame Giry raged at Alyna. "Alyna, just do your best. It'll work out, if you atleast try it might get better," Rose interjected.

Turning away from the two of them (I wonder how she chooses her ballerinas, thought she), Alyna began a piece she had designed herself. There was no music, but the dance seemed to create its own as she went through every motion. It brought out her strong points in ballet, and had in it all of Mdm. Giry's favorite moves. "A ballerina is not an actress," she explained to Madame Giry when she had finished, "but she can surely invent. You can start playing, Rose." She put her arms akimbo to begin.

"But how did you feel?" Mdm. Giry said, putting a hand out to stop Roslin from playing. "I didn't really mean those things, atleast not on such a high scale. A bellerina is the highest of actresses. They put emotion, not only through their voices and actions, but attitudes and expressions through themselves." She nodded to Rose, and the music began once more.

A ballerina is a creator, Alyna told herself as she danced, acting like there was another being next to her. She puts her heart and soul into every dance. If that is called acting, then acting is not what I thought it was. She imagined herself alone on the streets of Paris, kicked out of the Opera House. This actually sounded nice to her, so she imagined ending her days in the Opera House instead. She tried to switch from one state of mind to the other throughout the dance, showing a sort of let-down brought-up-slightly let-down-again sort of feeling on the outside.

"Looking good, but I can tell how your feelings change, you want it too look like one feeling, and you don't want to look like your are having to think about the thoughts them selves that make you feel such a way. Begin again."

Confused, Alyna tried again. On her first spin, her foot banged into the mirror, which rattled loudly, suggesting no wall on the other side. She sat down on the floor (there being no chairs) and, after making sure that it wasn't broken, stood up. She winced as she put weight on her foot and knew that she certainly couldn't stand on her toes any more that day. Alyna turned to face Madame Giry, hoping she wouldn't explode again.

"I suppose that is all for today. Rose, take her to the kitchen for some ice," Mdm. Giry instructed and left. Rose helped Alyna up. "Come on, Alyna."

((Already up. XP)) "Thanks," Alyna said to Rose after Madame Giry had gone. "I know how much trouble it must have been to reason with him." She didn't want to mention how she had threatened to stab Roslin just before then.
