The theatre was usually completely black at 3 o'clock in the morning, except for this morning. A small handheld candle illuminated the stage slightly, in a 3 foot radius from the flame. The small hand that held the candle belonged to none other then young Jolie Beauvais. Sleep had evaded her and she had been left awake in the darkness of her dormitory. She couldn't possibly stay there all night, eyes wide open. Instead, she opted to take a small trip to the stage for reasons unbeknownst to her.
Jolie was dressed in simply her white underneath a rather elaborate Victorian floral pattern house coat that she received before her residence at the Opera Populaire. Her auburn hair was left in somewhat unruly waves, as usual, with the top layer pinned back away from her face. Her face was the color of porcelain and her green eyes and plump lips were lingering with remnants of make-up from who knows how long ago.
Jolie took a seat upon the seat floor, setting the candle down beside her. She looked out to where the audience would be, seeing only the heavy curtain that separated the two worlds.
"Piu' a me t'appressa ascolta, amato Alfredo. Prendi: quest'e' l'immagine De' miei passati giorni; A rammentar ti torni Colei che si' t'amo'." Jolie began to sing some of Violetta's final words from the opera, La Traviata, which she had memorized from listening to it from outside the opera house so many time as a child.
"Se una pudica vergine Degli anni suoi nel fiore A te donasse il core Sposa ti sia lo vo'. Le porgi questa effigie: Dille che dono ell'e' Di chi nel ciel tra gli angeli Prega per lei, per te." she continued, quietly as to not awaken anyone, closing her eyes and imagining herself playing Violetta on the stage in front of a captivated crowd. But of course, it was only a dream.

((OOC: Does this take place before or after the opera is performed?)) "You must have had a good teacher." Alyna whispered the words when the song became silent. She sat cross-legged with her head leaning on the stage's back wall, an open book in her lap. Though the darkness was thick away from the candle, she found that the complete silence of it calmed her. She had grabbed a book off of a shelf in her room, not checking to see what it was, and hadn't read a page of it yet. It was simply an excuse to find a silent place in the opera house, where there was never a time when everyone slept. This break from the quiet didn't upset her, as mosts songs don't, being drawn to music since a young age. Alyna closed her book, set it on the floor, and walked on her bare feet to the light of the candle to see the singer better (only to find that it was someone she didn't recognize). She waited for a reply from the pale girl.

((OOC: After...? If that doesn't screw things up...))
Jolie jumped slightly, startled at the voice near her. She hadn't heard anyone entered and the stories of ghosts and spooks in the Opera Populaire weren't exactly comforting when she was alone in the almost-darkness.
"My apologies. I wasn't aware that anyone else was awake." Jolie said as she watched the slender female walk in her direction. Straight black locks, deep green eyes, fair skin, and lean muscles; Jolie couldn't say that she knew her, but did look slightly familiar. Chances were that she had seen her around the opera house casually before.
"Oh, and thank you for your compliment. I've...been around." she continued, leaving her history as vague as possible without seeming shady. "My name is Jolie Beauvais." she introduced herself plainly, extending her hand to the other female in introduction. Just because she basically grew up on the street did not mean that she didn't have any manners.

(('Course not, just trying to put everything in some sort of order in my head. ^^)) "Alyna Seliare." She put her hand in Jolie's and shook it. "So, are you usually a night owl, or couldn't you sleep?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Alyna." Jolie stated, taking her hand back casually. "I guess you could say that I'm just an insomniac." she continued with a feminine giggle. Jolie's natural speaking voice was very light, airy, and could be easily described as wispy. It was no matter though. Her voice coincided with her small stature.
"And yourself?" she asked politely in return. Alyna appeared to be close to Jolie's age, but Jolie didn't want to take any chances by being at all disrespectful. She didn't need any enemies at the Opera Populaire.

"I'm actually very tired," Alyna admitted while she pushed a lock of dark hair out of her face, "but the thought of sleep just doesn't seem so exciting today. And I'm trying to find some inspiration to dance, as I've been lacking it lately." No more lies, was what she had told herself, and she wasn't going to change her desicion so quickly. Jolie didn't seem like the type of person who would gossip, anyway.

"I know the feeling." she complied. "Lacking a muse, I mean. Art is nothing when there's no feeling behind it." she continued, nodding her head slightly. That's one of the reasons why she had returned to this opera house. She couldn't imagine herself performing anywhere other then the place where she first discovered music and singing.
"I'm sorry, am I in your way?" she asked, the idea suddenly dawning on her that perhaps Alyna wanted to use the stage and she was sitting right in the center of it all. Jolie was slightly oblivious to details like that on occasion. She blamed it on her young age. It was a good excuse, for now.

"What?" Maybe she had missed something that Jolie had said. Her forehead wrinkled as she thought out loud. "Why would you be? There are plenty of practice rooms I can use, and better lit then a stage with a closed curtain. Wait- am I in your way?"

"Erm...I just thought maybe you wanted to practice here on the stage since everyone is asleep. No one would bother you...except me." Jolie replied with yet another giggle. It was more of a nervous giggle more so then an amused one. It was a habit she had when she realized that perhaps she looked like a fool.
"Oh, no. You're not in my way at all. I was just trying to get out of the way of sleeping people. I didn't want to be a bother and wake anyone up." she explained, having overlooked at first and then realizing what Alyna had asked.
"So how long have you made residence here?" Jolie asked, trying to make conversation. She wasn't exactly gifted in small talk tactics.

"This is my fourth month at the Opera Populaire, but there's a small opera house in my hometown that I trained in for, if I count right, over a decade." She paused as she tried to think of what to say next. "What about you? Were you always in Paris?"

"I was born in Paris and I grew up here, mostly. I lived in this opera house a few years back with a groundskeeper of sorts." Jolie explained. "I just returned...not long ago. I'm looking forward to maybe breaking into the operas and such. How far have you gotten in 4 months? That's a fair amount of time, if I do say so myself." Jolie added.

"I was the leading ballerina in the last opera, but I doubt that will happen again. I didn't hide my feelings toward limelight from the administration. Usually there's more dance and less acting involved in smaller parts. I suppose singing and acting go hand-in-hand in operas, though."
