Since the opera house's masquerade ball was coming soon, there was no upcoming opera and the boarders were free to go about as they wished. It had started to flurry. Alyna pulled the hood of her cloak over her head and stepped out of the small bakery with a bread roll in her hand, which she immediately tucked under her cloak. She walked briskly down the street with an air of someone with a destination. She stopped and turned in front of a rickety building with a sign above it reading "Silversmith". She stepped inside and took her cloak off. A young lady, looking only a few years older than Alyna, came over to her. She had light brown hair and a simple dress on. Alyna spoke quickly and inaudibly, and the other girl nodded and motioned for her to follow her into the back room.

Chante was window-browsing when she saw the Silvershoppe. The trinkets in the window were so beautiful that she stepped in out of the cold, huddling in the doorway for a moment and looking at the works.
Chante looked up and saw someone from the Opera, Alyna, if she wasn't mistaken.
"Alyna?" She called out quietly, unsure. "I don't know if you know me...I'm new to the Opera. A Soprano," She added. "Are you...do you mind if I join you?" She asked. Unused to the streets of Paris, she had already gotten lost twice. It was getting colder and later, and she hoped not to repeat that experience.

Alyna turned when she heard her name being called. She saw the new girl, Chante, and remembered the rumors about the dress she would wear to the masquerade. She wasn't sure how to answer. "Ummm... sure, of course. I have something to do first, but I can meet you right here when I'm finished. I won't be more than a few minutes." Alyna walked into the back room and was in there for five minutes. When she came out, she held a small glass bottle of silver polish. She nodded to the girl who had given it to her, and returned to Chante. "We should probably head back before the snow gets worse," she suggested. "Do you have anything else you need to do?"

Chante shook her head. "No, I don't mean to be a bother...but I fear I'll get lost." She blushed.
((Rumors...? -confused-))

((Just spur-of-the-moment, this is taking place before the masquerade so technically Alyna doesn't know you. XD)) "That's fine," answered Alyna. "I've only been here for two months. I get lost sometimes also." She motioned for Chante to follow her outside. The way was twenty minutes at a brisk walk, and the snow wouldn't speed anything up.

((Ahh. ^_~))
Chante smiled. Trudging through the snow was never fun, but always better with someone else.
"So...are you a singer? A ballerina?" She asked, trying to make small talk.

"A ballerina," answerd Alyna. "It's healthier." Even she wasn't sure whether she was joking or not. She pulled her cloak tightly about her as the wind began to blow.

Chante laughed. "Well, singers have flat stomachs," She commented, patting her own happily. Her hair whipped in the wind and she pulled a strand and tucked it behind her ear.
"Is it much further?" She asked, not wanting to sound rude. "I wouldn't want to be late for the Masquerade Ball..."

Alyna seemed confused. "That's not for two days," she told Chante. "I doubt you'll be late." On a more casual note, she added, "It feels like there's a piece of cardboard stuck in a ballerina's stomach. Punch me there, and I probably won't feel it." ((Not kidding about that, I do figure skating and it requires a lot of ballet.))

Chante blushed. "Yeah, I'm having an appointment with a tailor for my Masquerade dress, I mean." She said, realizing her blunder.
"Oh, no! I couldn't hit anyone as nice as you." She smiled. "But I'll bet you're very flexible and strong."

"I've never had a singing lesson in my life, let alone tried to sing." Alyna looked up. "We turn here- we're almost back." In fact, the opera house could be seen at the end of the street.

Chante smiled gratefully. "Thank you so much, it would have taken me hours to find my own way back. Serves me right for wandering." She blushed. "Well, then I guess I'll see you at the Masquerade?" She asked hopefully as they neared the Opera House.

"Or if there's a full practice," Alyna replied as they stepped into the front entrance. She began to unbutton her cloak. "Good evening, Chante."

Chante smiled and draped her cloak over her arm, following Alyna back up to their room where she could hang it up.
((I guess we're done!))
