The season was ending late. In a small park in Paris, everything was still frozen over- and there was a shallow lake that, if you put an elephant on it, probably wouldn't crack. They were very expensive, but Alyna had decided it was worth it. She slipped on the ice skates and stepped on to the frozen lake. It was very slippery, which she hadn't expected. She started to run circles around the edge of the lake, to get used to it. She could practice while she was at it. She picked up one leg and put it behind her, spreading her arms out and doing a small spin. It might even be more fun than ballet, she admitted to herself, but also realized it was harder when her skate caught a rough patch and she had to flap her arms around to catch her balance.

Kristine had been wandering through that park, when she spotted a lone skater circling the small lake. As she approached she cold see that it was in fact Alyna. she smiled, Kristine had never been much of a skater when she was young. she had fallen through a thin patch of ice once in her childhood--and that had been enough to scare her off. watching Alyna skate made her wish that she had learned. setting herself down on one of the benches that lined the edges of the lake, she couldn't help but giggle when Alyna apparently hit a rough spot and broke her gracefull movement.

Noticing Kristine watching her, Alyna slowed down and came as close to the edge of the lake as she dared. "Hi," she called. "Congratulations on your part. I'll be behind you the whole way, literally."
