Okay, today I was taking turns telling riddles with a friend of mine. One riddle was "The man could not go home because the man in the mask was waiting for him." The first thing I said was "Oh, the Phantom of the Opera!" And my friend couldn't stop laughing. The man in the mask was an umpire at a baseball game...
So I thought we should make a list of when you know you're obsessed with POTO. I'll put the first few in:
You know you're obsessed with POTO when...
1. (Me) You associate everyone you know with one of the characters.
2. (Me) You answer POTO to a riddle about baseball.
3. (Me) You repeatedly quote POTO, and when asked what you are quoting all you answer is "The most awesome movie/play ever."
4. (Me) You try to twirl your skirt like it's the Phantom's cape whenever you turn around.
5. (Madame Giry) You wake up every morning and tell your Mom that you heard the Phantom singing in the night.
6. (Madame Giry)When you watch the movie you know every line and say it aloud, no matter who's around.
7. (Madame Giry) Tell your crush that you want him to be your 'Phantom'.
8. (Kristine D'Anton) You sing songs from POTO for a talent show.
9. (Daniella) You hum or sing the songs at work in front of everyone at the top of your lungs.
10. (Daniella) You dream about being in the Opera Populaire.
11. (Me) You try to pull your mirror off its wall so you can find a secret passageway, leading to the Phantom's lair.
12. (Me) You doodle masks and roses all over your notes in school.
13. (Me) You drop notes in the middle of the school hallway, and the next day glance around evilly, snatch it up, and run off. One week after that, announce that the Phantom has decided to put (name of random student) in the place of (name of principal), and to remember to reserve a chair in the corner for him in every class room.
14. (Daniella) You get insulted when you find a person that hasn't seen or doesn't like the music or movie.
15. (Daniella)You have two copies of the movie and several burns of the music on cd.
16. (Daniella) You join a POTO RP forum!
17.(Me)You made hats to look like all of Carlotta's.
18. (Me) You get into the olympic's pair ice skating and skate to POTO music.
19.(Charlotte) Whenever you go up and down stairs, hold your hand at the level of your eyes. If you ever see someone going down otherwise, kindly remind them of how they are endangering themselves by their ignorance.
20. (Me, the crazed maniac who did this) When running down a flight of steps wearing a sweater, you slowly unbutton the sweater as you go down and enjoy the swishing noise behind you that it makes when you drop it.
21. (Chante) You stake out in your basement for a few days with a mask over your face. Occasionally drop a note into the kitchen informing your patrons that you will be needing your salary soon.
22. (Me) You continually have the song "Masquerade" stuck in your head. Blast that clapping monkey!
23. (Scinasari) You often have a window open with music from the soundtrack and whenever someone is passing, you sing a little and wait for them to tell you to shut up. When they do, sing louder.
24. (Me) You have a POTO party in your hotel room on your school graduation trip.
25. (Me) You refuse to go to a movie party unless they're showing POTO.
Ways to annoy a person who doesn't like POTO:[/b]
1. (Jeanne Grise)You sing songs from POTO and demand that they sing the Phantom's part.
2. (Daniella)Sing all of Carlotta's parts as squeakily as possible around them.
3. (Me) You pull a noose out of your pocket book and throw it at them when they're not paying attention.
4. (Me) When there's a break in your conversation, you say random things about POTO, for example, "I wonder how many kids she had," or "Whatever happened to his original monkey?"
5. (Madame Giry) Whenever you answer the phone and they say is "'so-and-so' there?", you say "Yes, the Phantom will be with your in just a second. Please hold while I get him and entertain you with my beautiful singing skills!" Then sing Carlotta's songs until they hang up.
