Alyna was back in the room again. She had recently put new flowers and water in the vase, and swept the moth balls and dust into a corner. This room was her sanctuary, and had a useful tunnel she had discovered a few weeks ago, but hadn't gone back in yet because of her run-in with the Phantom. For a strange reason, there was no ceiling in this room. There were rafters, and then wooden boards that were the floor of the next level. For what seemed like the first time to Alyna, but was really the fourteenth, she climbed the empty book case and sat on a rafter. She began to stretch as if in ballet practice. After a few minutes, she stood up and practiced balancing. Figuring she had done enough ballet, she dropped her shoes onto the floor below and started climbing from rafter to rafter, some lower than others. This was what she lived for, the thrill of knowing you could fall at any moment and yet persisting casually. After she was out of breath, she came down by haning upside-down from a rafter like a bat and then flipping in mid-air to land on the floor. She wiped the dust off of her dress, put her ballet slippers back on, and exited like nothing had happened.

((I think this might be a bit like a journal, but people can intrude.)) A few days later she was back again. She stretched on the floor this time, one leg up on the bed and one barefoot on the floor. After finishing, she realized there was dust all over her foot and she should probably try to do a better job of cleaning up. She pulled the broom out of the closet next door ((yay consistency(sp?)!!)) and swept up the dust, this time pushing it out into the hallway instead of leaving it in the corner. After returning the cleaning item, she put her slippers back on and stepped in the flour that she had put there a few weeks before. She then began her dance for the upcoming opera, it being very hard because there was no stopping (except during intermission, of course). It took her an hour to perfect half of it, and then she retreated to the rafters. She tried to sweep those as well, only realizing afterwards that it just led to having to sweep the floor again. She flipped down, and noticing that she was very weak (for having exercised for over three hours, counting the time on the rafters), decided to retire to bed and sweep the floor again another time.

She was there for a different reason this time. She clutched a dagger in her hands and climbed into the tunnel, intent on finding the Phantom.

Roslin was coming out of a trapdoor in the ceiling and fell to the floor of the tunnel a ways away. She had to talk to Erik about this matter and this was the way he had showed her to find him. She walked carefully along the passage, look for the right stone.

Alyna heard an intruder in the tunnel. Holding her dagger tightly, she turned the corner and saw Rose. She wondered how often the girl visited abandoned hallways by way of cieling holes. She remembered that her necklace was still in Roslin's pocket. It would be easy to get, and she might need it later on.

"Alyna!" Rose said, it was an urgent but hushed whisper of surprise. "Alyna, I know you're mad, just go back to your room, please!"

"You have no idea," answered Alyna, no emotion in her voice. She moved theateningly closer to Rose. "You have two choices. Show me where the Phantom is, or give me back my necklace."

"If I do either it won't matter if you have your necklace or not, Alyna," Rose began. "He'll get rid of you, one way or another" She stood her ground, but she was nervous.

"But not you? If you do either, you'll be left alone?" Alyna was sick of secrets. She wanted answers, and she wanted them now.

"Maybe..." Rose said, hoping that her brother would appear soon.

Alyna stared at her. She didn't want to hurt Rose, but she wanted to hurt the Phantom. If they were in league...

"Alyna, just go back. It's for the best. He's just trying to help you develop your talent in dance," she said, afterwards muttering softly: "I hope."

"I don't care about dancing," Alyna answered. "I do what I'm forced to, and this is one of them. Give me my necklace, or take me to the Phantom."

Alyna sighed. She walked past Rose toward the door she had seen, but not gone through, the last time she was there. "Go bother your friend, the Phantom," she told the other girl, her back turned.
