Élodie smiled wearily as she surveyed the orderly piles of bolts that now topped the large cutting table in the center of the room; the orders that had been sent out a few weeks ago, after the costumes had been approved, had mostly come in. The fabrics that had been ordered would do well to match the ones that the costume shop already had, and the pieces that had already been made, mainly shirts and a few of the tight bodices for the dancers, hung on the rack off to the side, each hanger marked with a little slip of paper which indicated to whom it belonged.
Now, as she rummaged through the piles, sorting them this way and that, Élodie carefully checked off the items from her list. The only thing left was to begin to cut them all out, which could take a few days...

Madame Giry stepped into the room gently. "I hear many compliments on your costumes. He is impressed as well," she said, not explaining who 'he' was, and not intending to. "Are you having any troubles with any of the ballerinas or singers?"

Estelle Brooks wondered down the corridor and found herself in the costume department, she smiled as childhood memories came back to haunt her, of running amongst the swirling, rich fabrics, being chased by giggling ballerinas. A slight breath caught her on the back of the neck, it was like the breath of a skull, she spun round, trembling...no-one... yet she was not fooled, she knew that familiar sigh, had it really followed her all the way from London? Suddenly she heard noises and followed their sound, it led her into a large room where Madam Giry and a seamstress conversed. "Pardon me" she said, speaking her best French, "But I was told to come here, for my costume fitting for the production of the 'Moon Goddess?'"
