Song 1: Opening Aria: Insults
Ptolomy Do I hear the truth? Dear sister, dear wife? Cleopatra Perhaps truth perhaps lie Ptolemy You think me a pawn A puppet more or less Try to rule Egypt You will fail no less Cleopatra My desire is no more than that Both Our Pharaoh Father ruled this kingdom Flawlessly Why couldn't he have left it all to me? Protemly Greedy sister, selfish wife Cleopatra Foolish brother, immature husband Both Tyrant Dendera Perhaps another marriage Would have been better Or perhaps if they lived in another time And though Egypt was doing fine It's rulers were attempting murder But one day a visitor came And all things changed

Song 3: The Greeting
Caesar What is this?
Dendera It is a gift, sir.
Caesar What is this?
Dendera Let your feelings sit, sir.
Pharaoh Cleopatra sends a rug; Orientals are feeling very smug. This carpet fetched a pretty price; A great deed for one so young.
Caesar Is she to great to come and greet? Too busy to be sweet? This Cleopatra has no taste- Tells me to wipe feet!
Cleopatra Unroll the carpet, my good Grace, Dare you say that to my face? I’ve come to speak to you of war, To come about in this place.
Caesar Layla, let the woman out. After that she need not shout; My ears are not so old. Tell, what is this war about?
Dendera Caesar gave allegiance that day, To help his newfound love, and say! Soon they were found on the Nile, For two months of not just child’s play.

Cleopatra
Don't tell me of your news, I can read it from your eyes The fate I cannot choose, It was written in the skies.
What am I to become? This moon has lost her sun, When will daylight come? Now the night has begun!
How can you repair a broken heart, Now we are forever apart? How can my life start, When I know of your depart?
What am I to become? This moon has lost her sun, When will daylight come? Now the night has begun!
Oh my love, my life! Such dreams we shared, Our souls unbeared, The ambitions we dared, How much you cared! Oh, this hell, this strife!
What am I to become? This moon has lost her sun, When will daylight come? Now the night has begun!
