((Go to the new thread)) Chase leaned over in Carlotta's direction with a smirk. "So, you're the lady who didn't get any part in the Opera at all, eh?" he said, seeking some excitment and attention.

Jeanne stifled a laugh when she heard what Chase said to Carlotta, but scooted closer to get a better view of the interaction.

Carlotta turned to Chase. "I don't know where you hear those rumors," she said stubbornly. "You don't look to have enough talent to respect one who does." She would have walked away in a dignified yet slightly offended manner, but she was sitting and felt it was too dramatic to stand up and leave.

"Perhaps, but I think I should know correctly," Chase replied and put his hands behind his head. "I own the Opera Populaire...basically"

"Ha!" Carlotta exclaimed. "You, a mere boy, owning the Opera Populaire? You're probably just a servant who found his way into a singer's closet."

Jeanne couldn't contain herself anylonger and burst out laughing.
"Oh excuse me," she tried to say, her cheeks turning red.

Carlotta turned to Jeanne, insulted. She tried to say something but she couldn't think of what, so she stood up and stormed to the other side of the room. If it's true, then they will regret it, she told herself consolingly.

"I'm sorry!" called Jeanne. "I wasn't laughing at you!" Then she turned to Chase. "Carlotta can overreact sometimes."

"Hmph," said Carlotta, the feather on her hat waving back and forth as she glared at them.

"Obviously. But I had to get her away somehow," Chase said, keeping his eyes on Carlotta till she left and then moving them to Solange, who was in a crowd of other chorus girls.

"Oh? Was she in the way of you being able to talk to someone? Are you going to insult me so I leave too?" asked Jeanne with a smile.

"Only if I find that you are in leauge with that conceited soprano singer," Chase threatened, looking at Jeanne. ---Mdm. Giry re-entered looking flush. "Ballerinas, this isn't just a chorus rehearsal, come now, there is practicing to be done and I need to begin choerographing (sp?) the big dance peices," she said gather the ballerinas on the front of the stage. Alyna was absent as well as Rose.

"Why would I be in league with someone like her?" asked Jeanne before standing up. "Well, I better be going to learn the steps for the opera that you will profit from," she said with a smirk before she walked away.

Carlotta went to the side of the stage and took a sip of water. She began practicing her scales like the younger girls, warming up her voice so that she would be ready when Madame Giry needed her. ((In case anyone's confused, I know Carlotta didn't get a part))

Solange looked at Carlotta, confused as to why she was warming up. She walked over to the older woman. "Carlotta, did you know that you're not required for this rehearsal?" she asked delicately.
