Alyna gestured for the couple to come over. "We'll find out soon enough," she stated, and put her mask down so her hand could rest.

Jeanne smiled and slightly nodded. "Perhaps he is showing off, perhaps he just didn't want to come to such an event alone!" Jeanne couldn't resist laughing. She wasn't that curious of the woman on Phillipe's arm as she was of who would dance with her.

Roslin turned her attention from the gentlemen and smiled as she watched couples dance around the ballroom in their colorful gowns and attire.

"It's beautiful." Alyna returned her mask to her eyes, and turned to face what Rose was looking at. "I wonder who they are, too."

Roslin smiled. She supposed that Alyna figured she was looking at Yves and his date, but she was just watching random couples, and she didn't wonder about them. But she didn't mind and said nothing.

((I was actually talking about the other dancers. )) Alyna noticed a silence coming on. "I'll be back later," she told the other girls and walked to another group of girls nearby, where she had noticed a familiar face, though it was clearly not a girl from the opera house.

((Oops, so sorry)) Rose watched Alyna go and then plumped down into a chair behind her.

Alyna returned a few moments later, her eyes looking troubled, but her face showed nothing. She simply sat down in another chair nearby and watched the dancers again.

Roslin noticed something different, but didn't want to inquire on it. -------- Erik stood in a balcony that overlooked the ballroom. He fit in perfectly wearing a creamy colored mask and red suit with gold trim. No one should notice him, there were people by him even now conversing among themselves. He spoted Rose. From what he had seen, she was being good about not saying too much. It appeared he had chosen a good messenger.

Alyna looked at all of the costumes, spinning about the room along with their wearers. Either people were very creative, or had paid good money for their clothing... she spotted a butterfly, a King of Hearts, a skeleton... She then realized how silent she had been, and that most of the girls were looking at her. "Look at that costume," she said, pointing toward the man with the skeleton mask and red suit ((the Phantom)). "I supposed his dress maker came up with it."

"Quite creative," Rose agreed as she stared at the man like Alyna. Her eyes connected with his and she saw him hold up a rose, almost in a toast to her and then lay it on the ledge of the balcony. Then he disappeared out of sight. Roslin turned away quickly as sweat appeared on her brow. She was almost certain who he was but what scared her was that she was uncertain why he made contact with her. Was it some sort of foreshadowing?
((Last sentence not suppose to mean anything, just sounded good))

"That was strange," Alyna said. "It seems he has a fancy to you, Rose." After Alyna said it, though, she stopped herself from gasping as she realized who it was. She looked at Roslin inquiringly for a millisecond, and then turned to look at the guests again, for time to recollect her thoughts.

"Let's hope not," Roslin whispered to herself before she stood and began to walked away from the group timid and cautious.

Alyna walked in the other direction, hoping to get to the rose the Phantom had left, and then leave before either he or Roslin could catch her. Perhaps there's a note, she told herself. It will be worth it. Each step became faster along with her beating heart, and she felt the back of her neck heat up. She came to a flight of stairs, picked up her skirt, and ran up as quickly as she dared.
