Daniella sat in the still silence of the night gazing down upon the little lighted windows that were Paris, the air was cool but, not cold. a soft breeze caressed her cheeks and shoulders. She rested an elbow on the side of the roof wall, as she sketched out what she saw on a poor excuse for a pad of paper. She breathed deeply as her wrist moved back and forth with almost a rhythmic motion, a stub of a pencil in her fingers. Daniella loved it up here, the air was sweet with the scent leftover from the events of the day. But, what she liked best where the eluminated shadows of the Opera Populaire's many gargoyles and verious decorations. They did not scare her, no..she felt safe in there presents..protected.

Walking swiftly across the rooftop, Alyna almost crashed into Daniella for she was looking up at the sky. "Oh! Sorry," she said, about to continue on her way, when she saw the sketch on Daniella's paper. "Wow," she breathed. "It's beatiful." She stared up at the statues. "You make them look so... protecting. Like guardian angels, or something." But all Alyna saw in the original works of art were looming creatures bearing down upon her, suffocating her, watching and noting her every move. She looked up at the stars instead, which comforted her and made her feel like there really was someone, somewhere, protecting her from harm.

"Thanks," Daniella said hurriedly closing her notebook and covering it up with the shawl she had laying on her lap. "It's nothing really, just armature practices.." She looked up at Alyna, "your new aren't you? I haven't seen you much before..and believe me i've seen everyone." she half chuckled, "and most everything."

"Fairly," answered Alyna. "I don't think you'll be seeing much of me at all, actually. I plan on- I mean, I'll probably be leaving soon." She looked down at the drawing- or rather, Daniella's cloak- again, silent.

"leaving?" Daniella looked at her quizzically, "what do you mean?" Daniella shuffled the things on her lap and stood, reveling a small wooden crate she'd been resting on and leaned up against the wall. "do you not like it here?"

"No, it's fine, it's just-" Alyna thought about how to put it in words. "I'm not a bird meant to be caged, that's all." Trying to get off the topic, Alyna asks, "Did you grow up here?"

"well, yes...i guess you could say that." after she had answered the question she asked, "is it possible to feel caged in such a big place?" Daniella's gaze drifted over the lights of paris again.

"The size isn't the problem," she explained. "It's that I know what it's like, working in an opera house. I've been in a small one most of my life. You're almost always busy, and between practicing, meals, and sleeping, there's hardly any time to do much else. For instance, explore the unknown, maybe boundless reaches of the Opera Populaire." Alyna also looked down on the capitol city. "Or the rest of Paris," she added.

Daniella looked at her like she was crazy, "what kind of house where you in?" she blurted out before she knew what she was saying, "you have plenty of time to do whatever here, believe me." sounding suddenly serious. "Yes you practice, but that's not all you do, i've been her 9 years and..." she counted, "2 months. i'm pretty sure i know the place."

Alyna laughed. "Not a very good one. Between the backbreaking practice and working for my parents, my only free time was at night. But maybe this place is different, maybe it's better. It's certainly more well known."

"well i can't argue with you there," Daniella said very matter-of-factly, "we have had our share of important people."

Alyna nodded her head in agreement, then went back to an earlier part of the conversation. "So, if there is spare time, what do you usually do in it?"

Daniella's face screwed up into a sly grin, "why do you ask?"

"I don't know," admitted Alyna. "I guess I'm just trying to fillup the empty space in our conversation." She smiled also. "So, are you going to answer or not?"

Daniella looked at her for a minute still with a smile on her face, "have you ever heard of the Phantom of the Opera?" she raised her eyebrows as she said the name, "how he's supposed to live down under the Opera House and get around by passage ways?" she paused, "well, i like to look for those passage ways...i've found quite a few."
