Le Soufre Consigne
The audience settled in their seats. The crowd calmed. The curtains opened. The music began to play. Madame Giry watched silently from the side lines. Erik watched intently from box 5. Roslin watched nervously from backstage.

Chante stood in the chorus, trying not to fidget. Her first Opera at the Populaire - she had to do everything perfectly. No one ever looks at the chorus, her father had said wisely, if they're doing everything right. But if you're getting attention, it's the wrong kind of attention. After a moment she settled into her usual invisible-self, swallowing hard and preparing to sing.

Roslin put a hand on Chante's shoulder as Kristine began to sing. "Not yet, this is Kristine's solo," she whispered.

Alyna danced onto the stage, careful to stay in the background so attention would be focused on Kristine. She had come to a conclusion the previous night that she couldn't do anything about the Phantom until after the opera, and dancing was the only thing she could do now. She took Madame Giry's advice and acted, feeling the sadness (though it was hypothetical) running through her, and purposely glanced (when she felt the Phantom's gaze) at where her necklace sat backstage. She added in a few motions on a whim, feeling that the moment or note needed them. Her dress, though a bit revealing for her taste, was done well by Madame Elodie and it didn't limit her movement. ---- Carlotta sat sulkily in the audience, making rude comments to her neighbor and upsetting him so much that he stood up and left, claiming a headache. He could be seen later sitting far on the other side of the room. ---- Anna sat with her brother and mother in the front row. Operas weren't so exciting for her, so she busied herself by looking at people getting ready, just barely visible on the side off stage.

As Kristine sang through her aria, she felt as though it was much easier. All those lessons with Roslin had apparently paid off. She felt that she was able to 'have fun with it' (as a friend once said). when the song came to a close, she turned, her Medival style costume swirling around her legs, and continued the scene.

Roslin, along with Chante and a few other chorus girls rushed into the background wearing simple red or black costumes. They began to sing a simple tune as Ballerinas began to dance.

Alyna made way for the other ballerinas and chorus girls to enter. She stayed at the front, giving the illusion that she was leading the others around the stage. She had only had a few practices along with the other girls, but she danced simultaniously with them as if she had been doing it all of her life. At certain points she lept forward and the others surrounded her; which was useful, since she got a few seconds of break for her to catch her breath. As the song ended, she moved to the side of the stage again, giving the singers more room to enter.

Yves noticed Chante and smiled towards her to give her ecouragement. He mouthed 'good luck' before he turned his attention towards the opera.
Jeanne stood with the other ballerinas juming up and down to warm up before she went on stage.

As 'Alavda' turned to 'gaze' off into the distance, Kristine could see Yves waiting in the wings, he almost did look like the angel he was about to portray, with half of his body hidden from the light cast from the stage. not wanting herself to become distracted, Kristine swept her eyes up over the audience of the Populiare and over the ornate chandeliere before having them finally come to rest upon her hands that had been clasped in front of her.

"Go, Yves," Madame Giry urged. There was a short sequence to take place before it turned to Percival and Voletta's scene.
Erik watched eagerly, everything was going perfect.
Chase watched contenly, but being sure to keep a close eye on Anna.

Yves strode onto the stage dressed as an angel, but feeling more like the devil. He flashed a smile to Chante before he started to sing, his deep voice rumbling and echoing towards the audience. His whole heart and soul was put into the performance and he could feel himself become one with the character.

Alyna, listening to the singers' voices as she danced, had to be impressed. Those two could have made music without any instruments or words. Her moves began slowly as the orchestra started up. -- Anna leaned on Chase's arm, partly to get a better view, and partly because she was tired. Suppressing a yawn, she wondered why they forced short people to sit in the front where they couldn't see over the stage.

Chante caught Yves' smile and nearly faltered in her singing, but instead she put more heart into her singing, if possible, to be the best background possible for his beautiful Baritone.
So far things were going well, and she began to calm down, no longer so worried about some incident with the Pahntom of La Carlotta. Perhaps things actually would go well.

Solange breathed in and out at the side of the stage, nervous yet excited. Her time was coming.

The chorus end and the curtain closed. Roslin rushed to her new position. Everyhing was going smoothing. She was confident Solange would do fine.
